Educator. Leader. Trailblazer
Dr. Sharolyn N. Simmons is an accomplished educator and leader with a proven record
of advancing student achievement, developing innovative programs, and managing large-scale
educational initiatives. She currently serves as a TeachSC Advisor, providing one-on-one
coaching and guidance to future educators while also working as a Title I Facilitator
with Greenville County Schools, where she supports professional development, compliance,
and instructional improvement.
Her career spans classroom teaching, after school and summer program leadership, and
university-level extension work. At SC State University’s 1890 Research and Extension
Program, she managed more than $1 million in federal and state grant funds, secured
competitive grants, and expanded youth development programs across South Carolina.
At Felton Laboratory School, she was recognized as Teacher of the Year and held multiple
leadership roles that strengthened student learning and engagement.
Dr. Simmons has presented at national and international education conferences, sharing
best practices in classroom innovation, technology integration, and instructional
leadership. She is deeply engaged in her community through service to the South Carolina
State University National Alumni Association, the South Carolina Education Association,
and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she currently serves as Chapter President.
Known for her ability to mentor, inspire, and transform educational environments,
Dr. Simmons embodies a lifelong commitment to empowering teachers, enriching student
experiences, and advancing excellence in education.
