impact of teaching, research and Extension across South Carolina.
Rooted in a legacy of service and innovation, Ag and Land-Grant Celebration Week highlights
the vital role SC State continues to play in advancing agriculture, strengthening
communities and preparing future leaders. This annual tradition reflects the mission
and impact of our 1890 land-grant institution.

Ag & Land-Grant Celebration Week List of Events
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 8 & 9 - PSA 101
SC State Public Service & Agriculture staff, interns and scholars will visit SC State
University 101 classes to introduce students to the university’s land-grant history
and the impact of its research and Extension programs. Students will learn about opportunities
to engage with SC State Public Service & Agriculture and discover ways to get involved
in programs, initiatives and experiences that support their academic and professional
development.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 9 - OPEN HOUSE
SC State University faculty, staff and students are invited to join us on Wednesday, September 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an Open House event during Ag and Land-Grant Celebration Week.
This interactive event will showcase the work happening at SC State PSA and provide
an inside look at our 1890 Research & Extension programs such as facility tours, live
cooking demonstrations and more.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 10 - MEAT UP
The Meat Up event is an interactive, students-only experience designed to introduce
students to the fundamentals of beef preparation and grilling. During this session,
students will learn about the different cuts of beef, including their characteristics,
best uses, and proper handling techniques.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 11 - FARMERS' FORUM & AG SHOWCASE
Farm producers are invited to attend the Farmers' Forum, a one-day educational conference
designed to equip agricultural producers with practical, research-based strategies
to improve farm efficiency, maximize available resources and strengthen profitability,
on Friday, Sept. 11. Centered around the theme "Optimizing Agricultural Resources for Greater Farm Success,"
the forum will feature expert speakers, USDA agency representatives, producer discussions,
and an Agricultural Resource Showcase connecting participants with valuable programs,
services, and innovative solutions to support the success and sustainability of South
Carolina agriculture.
SC State University Public Service & Agriculture invites partners for an evening of
conversation and connection focused on the future of agriculture, featuring panel
discussions on advancing agriculture through AI and building a competitive workforce.
Researchers, industry professionals, students, alumni and partners will explore emerging
technologies, workforce needs, career preparation and the skills needed to strengthen
South Carolina’s agricultural industry.
Saturday, Sept. 12 - Alumni Breakfast
SC State University Public Service & Agriculture (PSA) invites you to join us on Saturday, September 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., for a special Alumni Breakfast as part of our Ag & Land-Grant Celebration Week at
the Bulldog Lounge, K.W. Green Student Center on SC State's campus. Reconnect with
fellow Bulldogs, celebrate our shared land-grant legacy and hear from featured speaker
Dr. Karen Poteete, veterinarian, owner of Kare Bears Cuddly Paws Mobile Pet, LLC and
public health veterinarian with the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 12 - AG & LAND-GRANT CELEBRATION SHOWCASE
Join us on Saturday, Sept. 12, as we conclude Ag & Land-Grant Celebration Week with an interactive showcase featuring
hands-on activities, demonstrations and fun for the whole family. Discover how SC
State Public Service & Agriculture’s five programmatic areas impact communities across
South Carolina, enjoy horseback riding and more, then head to the stadium as the SC
State Bulldogs take on Virginia State University Trojans.
A game-day ticket is required to enter the Showcase.
