At South Carolina State University, our dedication to you doesn't end with the awarding of your diploma. We want to ensure that you graduate not just with a foundation of knowledge and skill in your chosen major, but also with the ability to successfully find and apply for a rewarding job.
Our Career Center, part of the Division of Student Affairs, provides essential guidance to prepare you as leave school and begin a career. Working with our support staff, you'll see how to identify rewarding employment opportunities and develop the skills you'll need to get those jobs. You will learn to write resumes and cover letters that make you stand out and take part in mock interviews where you'll develop self-confidence and learn essential soft skills so you can better present yourself professionally.
The Career Center will ready you to enter and stand out in today's workforce, regardless of your chosen field.
SC State's Career Center Brings Opportunities to You
As part of our career development services, the Career Center also sponsors and leads a variety of events that will allow you to meet potential employers face-to-face. We stage job fairs and special career days, and partner with businesses to identify talented individuals. We help you find and apply for internships and other hands-on learning opportunities and can help you file the necessary paperwork to get course credit for those experiences. Whatever resource you need to find success in your job search, we will work to provide it for you.
If you aren't quite sure yet what career path is right for you, we can still help. We offer career counseling to help you discover what type of role will be the most fulfilling, and can provide information to help you better prepare. And if you aren't fully ready to join the workforce yet, we can get you important information on graduate and professional schools.
Even better, our services aren't just limited to current SC State students: we also serve SC State alumni. That way, if you ever find yourself struggling to find a job that is fulfilling or are considering a change in career, you can be assured that you won't be alone and our Career Center team will be ready and able to help assist you.
