As the regional director for SC State 1890 Research & Extension's Low Country Region, Cornelius Hamilton is charged with managing the region's resources, providing guidance for field operations and program services, and engaging stakeholders within the region.

Background
Hamilton began as a 4-H youth development agent with SC State University 1890 Extension in 2003. He advanced to the acting regional director position during the summer of 2021. Prior to SC State University, he served as a high school teacher and after-school program coordinator for one year in Colleton County. During his tenure with 1890 Extension, He has conducted presentations at national conferences, conducted training on the state and local levels, and graduated from the Extension Emerging Leadership Initiative in 2022.

Hamilton is a native of Walterboro, South Carolina. As an alumnus of SC State University and a civil servant, he takes pride in engaging in innovative opportunities to educate and elevate the lives of South Carolinians. His favorite extension moment was witnessing a summer camp participant take engineering skills, along with the computer she built in our program to enhance her computer literacy skills and help her family realize a business plan they had to start their family business. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for over 20 years. They have three children. In his leisure, he enjoys spending time with his family, sports, working out and exploring visual arts.
