Janice B. Owens
Dr. Janice B. Owens is professor of education and South Carolina State University who has demonstrated outstanding research, scholarship and a distinguished record of teaching.
She serves as director of clinical experiences, evaluation and certification, which entails supervision of all phases of the clinical experiences program. She has established and maintained cooperative relationships with the State Department of Education (SDE) and all components and persons concerned with the Teacher Education Program.
The director affects contractual relationships among students, Pre-K-12 schools, districts and the university and ensures that Teacher Education Program policies, procedures, standards, and licensure standards are maintained and practiced throughout the program. The director evaluates and recommends all students completing the approved Teacher Education Program, Counselor Education and Educational Administration Program for initial and add-on certification.

Background
Dr. Owens has been at SC State for 30 years. She has served as graduate professor, director of clinical experiences, evaluation and certification and acting dean for College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Dr. Owens worked as a reading specialist for Fairfield County Public Schools and at Benedict College as associate professor and coordinator of early childhood education, director of the Child Development Center and CDA Program.
