Kimberely McClain
Kimberely McClain is an assistant professor in the Nutrition and Food Management program, which encompasses teaching an array of courses such as Nutrition and Food, Human Nutrition, Medical Nutrition Therapy I and II, Nutrition and Metabolism (Nutrition II), Meal Management, and Seminar in Nutrition and Food Management. She also works in conjunction with the Director of the Nutrition and Food Management program to assure accreditation standards are maintained for the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD - Nutrition option), which is granted by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, she serves on Departmental and College-Wide Committees, writes grants to support departmental and programmatic needs, and mentors students throughout their matriculation at South Carolina State University.

Background
McClain served South Carolina State University from 2006 -2013 and returned in 2018. During 2006-2013, she served as the Director of Nutrition and Food Management program. McClain served as the Co-PI on an 1890 funded grant that targeted childhood obesity. In addition, she served as a consultant to the Nutrition and Food Management program prior to returning in 2018. McClain has worked in many capacities throughout the years as a Registered Dietitian including Consulting Dietitian in multiple Nursing Homes in South Carolina, Outpatient Dietitian in Diabetes Centers, Clinical Dietitian in hospital settings, Clinical Nutrition Manager in Nursing Home settings, and Patient Service Manager in an hospital setting.

Hobbies & Interests
McClain enjoys presenting nutrition education workshops on disease states such as childhood obesity, hypertension, and diabetes in underrepresented communities.She also enjoys spending quality time with her family, watching action movies, and listening to jazz and gospel music.
