Dr. M. Evelyn Fields is Dean of the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences and a Professor of Early Childhood Education.

Background

Dr. Fields has served SC State since 1999. She has been the Director of Head Start Education; Chair of the Department of Teacher Education; Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. She also has been Chair of the Faculty and President of the Faculty Senate. She is a member of the graduate faculty. She also worked at the University of South Carolina as a program administrator for an early childhood program.

She has been Professor of the Year at SC State, president of the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education; president of the American Association of University Professors, and president of the SC Association for the Education of Young Children.
