ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State University will conduct its Spring Commencement exercises for the Class of 2024 on Friday, May 10, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. in Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

“This year’s ceremony is notable in part because many in this class were unable to have a normal high school graduation in 2020 when the nation was entering the COVID-19 pandemic,” SC State President Alexander Conyers said. “All but a few spent their freshman year at SC State at home, taking classes remotely.

“So, we are especially proud of these graduates who embody what we call Bulldog tenacity,” Conyers said.

The university’s clear bag policy will be in effect, and everyone entering the stadium will be subject to security checks.

Commencement rehearsal will be on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 9 a.m. in the stadium. Honor accessories will be distributed immediately after rehearsal.

In the event of inclement weather on graduation day, the ceremony will move to Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Each graduating student would be issued 10 tickets for family members and guests. Seating in SHM would be limited to ticket holders, and an overflow location would be provided with a video feed. Students would pick up tickets Thursday during rehearsal.
