Transportation - how people and goods get from one place to another - is a key factor in keeping society functioning and healthy. While it may seem relatively simple, the truth is that a great deal of thought, planning, and hard work is required to keep people moving. And that means we need skilled and knowledgeable workers to meet our current and future transportation needs.
South Carolina State University's James E. Clyburn University Transportation Center (JECUTC) was established to train and empower those workers. With its focus on research, education, and technology, the JECUTC prepares interested SC State students for careers in transportation, with a particular focus on the training and recruitment of minority and women students.

Working across all SC State academic units, the JECUTC offers a wide range of classes and learning opportunities that address passenger and freight transportation. It assists in the development of interdisciplinary programs and coursework with a transportation concentration. From driver behavior and safety to the transportation of hazardous materials to sustainable transportation solutions and more, students learning at the JECUTC delve into every aspect of modern transportation.
The JECUTC also provides research grants to faculty to investigate a range of transportation topics, which in turn creates many research and experiential learning opportunities for students.
The JECUTC is a unique facility on SC State's campus. In fact, due to the research and learning opportunities offered by the JECUTC, SC State has been designated as the only college or university in South Carolina to be a University Transportation Center.
So if you're looking to build a career working in transportation or you want to design and implement the transportation solutions that will carry our community and country forward, look no further. The James E. Clyburn University Transportation Center at SC State will help to get your career and your future moving!
