Finance & Operations

The Division of Finance and Operations provides operational oversight and fiscal direction supporting the overall excellence of South Carolina State University. Led by Dr. Gerald Hubbard Smalls, the Vice President of Finance and administration/CFO, the division delivers integrated support for the operations of the university in the key areas of finance, operations, human resources, information technology, facilities and space planning.

In addition, the Division of Finance and Administration stewards the university's financial resources and works closely with the Office of the President and other university divisions to serve the needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community.

Our goal is to ensure that the university runs efficiently and smoothly. The division coordinates and optimizes university-wide financial planning, administration, and risk mitigation with a focus toward long-term impact.

Through dynamic and collaborative partnerships, the Division of Finance and Management provides high-quality and efficient services to the campus community through a shared-services financial model. This solidifies the institution’s strategic commitment to long term financial sustainability.

The division also manages and maintains the facilities where students live and learn. It keeps watch over the technology necessary for efficient communication and 21st century learning, as well as security measures to keep everyone on campus safe.
