Certificate in Addiction and Trauma
Offered through South Carolina State University’s Center for Online and Distance Education (CODE), the Certificate in Addiction and Trauma is a graduate program designed to
meet the growing demands within the counseling field.
The program is targeted to working professionals who hold bachelor’s degrees in counseling,
psychology, social work, or related fields and are interested in becoming certified
in addiction counseling or furthering their career endeavors.
The curriculum focuses on evidence-based addiction education to equip professionals
with the knowledge to provide the highest quality counseling to individuals dealing
with substance abuse, addiction and trauma.
How will I learn?
The curriculum consists of 18 semester credit hours and classes are offered fully
online, in 8-week semester terms instead of the traditional 15-week term. This condensed
semester format allows students to potentially complete the entire certificate program
within one year.
The online delivery format combined with the eight-week semester term is especially
attractive to working professionals who are seeking the convenience of online delivery
and a reduced time to completion. The tuition rate for the program is the same for
both in-state and out-of-state residents, making the program competitive on a nationwide
basis.
