Professional Writing Certificate
The undergraduate Professional Writing Certificate is an 18-hour credit certificate that provides students the opportunity to develop advanced workplace writing skills that combine creative thinking, analytical skills, and practical application. The certificate requires successful completion of six writing-focused courses above the freshman composition level, including five at the junior and senior levels. As part of their final coursework, students will take E 430 Advanced Professional Writing, a project-based course in which students apply the skills acquired in the other certificate program courses.
Certificate in Addiction and Trauma
Offered through South Carolina State University’s Center for Online and Distance Education (CODE), the Certificate in Addiction and Trauma is a graduate program designed to
meet the growing demands within the counseling field.
The program is targeted to working professionals who hold bachelor’s degrees in counseling,
psychology, social work, or related fields and are interested in becoming certified
in addiction counseling or furthering their career endeavors.
The curriculum focuses on evidence-based addiction education to equip professionals
with the knowledge to provide the highest quality counseling to individuals dealing
with substance abuse, addiction and trauma.
Environmental Monitoring & Restoration
The program emphasizes the application of basic and applied sciences in environmental monitoring and restoration. Classroom academic work will be at the Field Station classrooms and labs at the Savannah River Site. In addition, each student in the program will be involved in a long-term internship with the DOE, Westinghouse or other environmental organizations for field real-life and hands-on experience.
Human Development Consultant
Competencies acquired help to prepare for careers in a broad range of positions that
focus on the normal stages of human development with emphasis on family as the core.
The graduate certificate in Human Development Consultant program is designed for learners:
- Currently enrolled in Individual and Family Development or a related graduate degree program at SC State.
- Who previously earned a graduate degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution.
